Trains in Melbourne

TRAINS

Victoria has a fast, frequent and user-friendly train system. Flinders Street Station is the hub of Melbourne’s train system and the City Loop has five stations servicing the central business district: Southern Cross, Flagstaff, Melbourne Central, Parliament and Flinders Street.

Connex provides train services across the metropolitan area running from around 5am (7am Sunday) until close to midnight seven days a week. Later services also operate out of the city on Friday and Saturday nights.

You should always carry a valid ticket when you travel on public transport in Melbourne. Transport Officers are not always understanding and the whopping fines aren't worth it. For timetable and ticket information, visit Metlink.

V/Line is the public transport provider for regional Victoria. Visit their website or call 136 196 (within Australia) or +61 3 8608 5011 (from overseas)for ticket and timetable information. Viclink also provides helpful info on public transport services for regional Victoria.
